Bring the Comforts of Home on Vacation

Being a type a, I thrive with routine and I know my kids do too. When life is out of control or doesn’t go according to the rhythms they’re used to, they don’t feel as secure.

Changes in schedule from school or holidays can really throw you for a loop and take some adjusting. But it’s even harder when you’re not only on a new schedule but in a new environment too. Like on vacation.

I learned really quickly after becoming a parent that even when you’re on vacation, when you have littles their schedule has to become your schedule no matter where you are. And all of those things that are a part of your daily routine and make life easier and things move smoother need to to go with you on the go.

With each child, you learn more about this whole parenting thing and ways to make life easier for the entire family. When I had Brady sleep training was  a term we used loosely. It was more her training us to follow her unpredictable schedule than us trying to establish a sleep schedule for her.

Things get harder when you go from one kid to two and getting them both to sleep, especially at the same time is nearly impossible without persistence, patience, and a few tools. While Brady wasn’t sleeping through the night until well over a year old, Colby started sleeping through the night at 6 months old.

What was the secret?

Sound.

From white noise to special playlists, we tried it all to ensure the girls stayed on their sleep schedule even while on vacation. There were even years we toted two huge floor fans with us to our vacation rental so we could make sure everyone had a good night’s sleep.

But there’s an easier way.

Most trips we rent a vacation house with at least two bedrooms so that the girls have their own space and we’re not forced into a 7:30 bedtime. But in two weeks we’re heading to Disney World for a surprise trip and with all of the noise of sharing a hotel room, we need to make sure that the girls can fall asleep easily and we can stay up once they’re down for the night.

We won’t be shipping any floor fans with us on this trip. Instead we’re going to throw our SoundBub into the suitcase! SoundBub is a Bluetooth speaker that can connected with any Bluetooth enabled device and play the music you already love. And if that ends up being too distracting for my light sleeping husband, SoundBub comes pre-loaded with two white noise tracks…Montana Rain and Malibu Beach, but others are available from the VoiceShare app, to soothe us all to sleep.

And the special hide-away handle makes SoundBub perfectly portable. It can hook onto a stroller, car seat, crib, or stand up on a hard surface.

My only regret is not finding this when my girls were babies! Bring the comforts of home with you and stay on schedule wherever you go with SoundBub!

SoundBub is available from the website for $59.99. You can also stay up to date with the latest by following the brand on Twitter and Facebook.
