Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood Toys for Imaginative Play

Hearing the theme song to Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood is guaranteed to remind me of my Papa that passed away when I was just 4 years old. Because he passed away when I was so young, I don’t have many memories of him. But something as simple as hearing, “It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood…” brings me to a different place in time and floods me with so many emotions.

Mr Rogers NeighhborhoodDaniel Tiger's Neighborhood

Mr. Rogers Neighborhood might not be on the air any longer, but those joyous times spent watching such a heartwarming, wholesome program have recently come around again. Now watching the spinoff, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, with my daughters harken back on those memories. There’s something about the familiar characters, opening montage, and timeless lessons that make this such a great show that I’m proud to say I allow my daughters to watch.

Have you seen Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood? It premiered on September 3, 2012, and had 40 half-hour episodes in its first season. Since its premiere its consistently rated high as one of the top 10 programs among preschoolers and the top 5 among moms.

Each episode of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood not only focuses on the power of imagination in imaginative play but also on one strategy which is a theme that can apply to a preschooler’s life. Themes like potty training, dealing with frustrations, and trying new foods are all important issues that parents face with preschoolers and each episode has a catchy song to go with it to reinforce the overall strategy. These songs are all easy to learn and can even help adults who struggle with these issues.

Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood Toys

With Christmas coming up, I’m super excited to announce that Daniel Tiger Toys are now available! These toys were designed to inspire creativity and imagination with open-ended play.

Our family got the Daniel Tiger plush toy and the Daniel Tiger Friends Playset. Both toys were immediate hits in our house! Brady took the plush and the miniature Daniel Tiger figure to bed with her for nights afterwards.

If you haven’t had the chance to watch Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, I encourage you to check your the local listings for your PBS station. You can also find episodes and songs available on iTunes. Some of my favorite episodes are the following:

We love Daniel Tiger! It is sad to think how he's the Mister Rogers of our generation but he's still so cute and fun -- my son loves his songs and music.

It is a cute show and my 2 year old loves it. I kind of miss Mr Rogers myself but the opening song is still the same.

We love Daniel Tiger. The songs are so catchy that we sing them on a regular basis to help remind our 3yo what to do in certain situations.
