As a work-at-home mom and as a blogger, I’m always on my computer or connected in some way. You wouldn’t believe how easy it is to get distracted, sidetracked, and overwhelmed when you’re working online all day. Staying organized is essential to being productive and feeling in control of your business.
I’m always searching for the next best thing to help me stay organized and on track and try out new methods all the time. I like to have my lists, goals, and plans in several different locations whether that be on a piece of paper, a sticky note, or in my phone. One tool that I always use to help me keep track of things both personally and professionally is Microsoft Office.
Microsoft Office 2010 features Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher and Access. Personally and professionally, I mainly rely on Word and Excel but have dabbled in the other programs when needed. Working from home there’s a lot of overlap in my personal and professional lives so the ways I use Word and Excel are closely related at times. I use Word to write recipes, compose personal and cover letters, format my resume, make address labels, and to create my media kit. In Excel, I keep track of my personal budget, blog income, invoices, address book, editorial calendar, and more. I love being able to create tabs in spreadsheets to separate the different months and customize the view to zoom, add colors, change fonts, and add tables as needed. I rely on Office for so many things, my sanity would seriously be in question without it.
You can try Microsoft Office 2010 free for 60 days or it can be purchased through major retailers in stores and online. Just in time for the holidays, the Microsoft Office Blog is featuring several holiday-related downloads. The featured downloads include the following: a OneNote recipe book, Excel shopping budget spreadsheet, and word menu. But that’s not all, you’ll also find 10 festive tips and tricks to help get you through the holidays. Microsoft Office 2010 would make a great gift to yourself or for anyone on your holiday list looking to get organized.
