I know a lot of women dread the return of football season since they become football widows. I’m the exact opposite, I love the fall and look forward to football’s return starting the day after the Super Bowl. There’s nothing like the excitement of cheering on my beloved Denver Broncos and the ritual of spending Sunday, Monday, and Thursday getting to watch an NFL game!
But that doesn’t mean that I’m only rocking my team gear on game day. Oh no. Chances are I’m wearing something Broncos twice a week but especially during football season. My Alex & Ani Denver Broncos charm bracelet is a staple in my everyday jewelry and even my insulated water cup that goes with me pretty much everywhere has a Broncos sticker.
Being able to rock Broncos gear year round definitely takes some planning to wear pieces in any situation without it looking to overt. Don’t get me wrong, I’m loud and proud about my favorite team. But there’s a time and place for it.
I’m probably not going to wear a jersey for preschool pickup or grocery shopping. Truth be told most days I’m rocking leggings, which I love for the comfort and versatility. So in the weeks leading up to NFL kickoff, I’m like a kid in the candy store scoping out the NFL Store trying to find pieces that integrate with my style and can work for any situation.
For all the ladies that love football but don’t show their support as often as they’d like or should, would love the variety in the NFL Store – leggings, bracelets, and fun sparkly tops make showing love for your team fun! And it’s great for those that don’t really have four distinct seasons. My favorite date ever was from two years ago when my husband and I made a weekend trip to Denver to go to the Broncos versus Chiefs game. You may think this was more my husband’s ideal weekend but I can take credit for leading the charge on this one. Both of our favorite teams playing against each other (Broncos won by the way), playing in the state I grew up at home, and getting to experience our first NFL game together. Bliss! I just want the stars to align for us to have another date there!
Most times when people think of wearing team gear, they think of jeans, tees, and tennis shoes (or in Texas, flip flops). And if you’re heading to the stadium or chilling at home, then this totally works but that totally doesn’t have to be the case. When we’re having date nights in Austin, I can still share team spirit without looking underdressed.
This is a preview of tonight’s date night look. I’m letting my new Broncos shirt be the star of the show. The silky material and form fitting silhouette paired with dressy Bermudas, and platforms make for an upscale and trendy look. But there’s no question who I’ll be rooting for come Sunday against the Colts.
