This will be my 17th year together with my husband. That’s a long time for a couple our age to be together and a lot has changed over the years. Where we’ve celebrated Christmas, who we’ve celebrated Christmas with, the extent to which we decorate, the gifts that we give, these change year after year.
But one thing remains that makes the holiday season what it is…
For us, the holidays are all about spending time with family. Those that you share DNA with and those that you adopt as family along the way. The adults don’t usually celebrate with a lot of presents, instead, we know the value of presence. Being together during the holidays all seeing all the sights, hearing all the sounds, and experiencing everything about the season is what’s most important to us.
The holidays can get pretty hectic, but one of our favorite ways to spend time together and decompress during the chaos is to watch a movie together as a family. We love taking the time to slow down and watch a holiday-themed movie, like My Christmas Love, to help us get in the spirit of the season. This new movie will be airing on Hallmark Channel tomorrow and is a great excuse to escape the cold and give your family, your presence.
Why: “A hopeless romantic (Hagner) starts receiving each gift from the song “The 12 Days of Christmas” compliments of an anonymous benefactor. As she tries to figure out the gifter’s identity with the hope that the person on the other end of the parade of presents will be her one true love, she discovers that what she was looking for was right in front of her the entire time.”
