Fill the Nutritional Gaps: Help for Picky Eaters

I have been compensated by PediaSure for this post; however, I am sharing my own thoughts. All opinions are my own.

My girls had a rough start with eating. Both being preemies, neither of them took to eating particularly easily. One of them couldn’t get the suck, swallow, breathe down and necessitated more time in the NICU because of it. The other broke free of the womb early without any time spent in the NICU.

But from the start, both of them had a discerning palette and were picky eaters, if you will.

These are not girls that are into the typical things that a lot of kids like. Sure, they like junk food but, I mean, what kid doesn’t?

But mac and cheese, grilled cheese, and mashed potatoes are not dishes that most kids want love that my girls just don’t. Then there are the others that one likes but not the other. It’s always such a guessing game.

Somewhere along the way, they’ve both opened up their palettes but they’re still rather limited. My kids are not out eating sushi and seafood, even if they both do eat steak cooked to a medium temperature of perfection. Same as mom and dad. But as much as they’d like otherwise, steak is not in the budget for nightly or even weekly.

And with a somewhat limited budget and picky palettes, I’m guessing there’s a ton of nutritional gaps that need to be filled.

Even with their endless supply of snacks and grazing throughout the day, it just doesn’t seem like my girls are getting all that they need.

I worry about them. Even with their normal weighs and vitamins and hydrated bodies. I mean one cannot sustain ones’ self on bars, fruit, and chicken nuggets alone.

But for the little one, she can drink her weight every day. Doesn’t matter what it is, she’ll drink it all. So I was pretty stoked to find PediaSure SideKicks to help supplement her diet and ensure she gets all of the vitamins and nutrients she needs. Every day. Plus, they come in three great flavors – chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry!

And she loves it! According to her, it tastes like a strawberry milkshake and I like that it has each shake has 7 grams of protein, 3 grams of fiber, and 25 essential vitamins and minerals. They’re also great for special diets like those that are gluten free or lactose intolerant.
