I hate wearing shoes! How many women do you know that hate shoes? I might as well turn in my fashionista card right this second!

But I didn’t always hate shoes.

And truth be told, I don’t actually hate the shoes I just hate when I find a pair of shoes that I’m madly in love with that look fabulous and I get home only to find out they hurt my feet.

Blisters. Foot cramps. Pain.

It’s not all shoes. I just hate when shoes hurt my feet. Because when my feet hurt, I feel tired.

So these days I rarely buy new shoes, and if I do, they’re sandals of some sort. Even with high arches and the need for a little bit of cushion and arch support, they never hurt my feet nearly as bad as a pair of heels do.

I don’t know why it never occurred to me before but insoles have solved my issues with certain pairs of shoes. Amopé Gel Activ™ are super thin so you can wear them with open-toed shoes to get a little more cushion but they’re clear and don’t show so no one’s the wiser!

Since my mother-in-law has moved in with us, we’ve had the opportunity for more date nights than we’ve had since having kids. And when we go out, there are so many times I’d love to slip on a pair of heels and really take my look up a notch but don’t or rather can’t, because it’ll be torture for the rest of the night. Secretly waiting for the moment I can discretely slide off my heels and let my feet take a break. Which always seems to only make the pain seem worse after having a break.

Like I said, I rarely wear shoes that aren’t flat so anytime I do, even if it’s with jeans, I instantly look dressed up and more put together because I’ve ditched the flip-flops and put on a real pair of shoes.

There’s something about wearing a pair of fabulous dress shoes that instantly makes you feel more feminine.

I know that feeling. Even though I’m tall, I like that feeling of empowerment and confidence that wearing a killer pair of heels brings. And despite the pain, I still put on my heels from time to time but not nearly as often as I should.

Since I have a closet full of shoes, that I can’t bear to part with, that have just been sitting in my closet, untouched and unworn for years there’s no reason for me to buy new shoes to start wearing heels more often. While it’s always nice to get a new pair of shoes, there are several different ways you can breathe new life into your collection inexpensively.

3 Tips to Expand Your Shoe Collection

1. Broken heel? No problem! Have you ever wondered what exactly a shoe hospital does? Exactly this! They can quickly and easily add a new heel to your shoe without having to replace the entire pair!

2. No matter how hard you try, are you forever getting blisters? You can place a moleskin, gel, or special bandage as a preventative measure for blisters. These are especially nice when you’re breaking in a new pair of shoes!

3. You can do you like I did and pick up Amopé Gel Activ insoles. They’re designed to support the different pressure points of different shoes, are 25% thinner than other insoles so they can easily fit the thinnest shoes without crowding your toes. And they have a special sticky material that doesn’t lose its tack even when moved from one shoe to another.

So on my weekly trip to Target, I wheeled past the shoe section and headed for the pharmacy to see what kind of insoles might breathe new life into my neglected shoe collection.

Now I actually look like I’m ready or heading to a girl’s night out! There’s no question, I’ll be rocking all of these, new to me {again,} shoes in the coming weeks.
