Easy Cherry Buttercream Frosting Recipe
Growing up with two working parents, neither of them had the time or desire to spend much time in the kitchen. This meant the convenience of a store bought meal or dessert usually won out over making something from scratch.
As a child, I never minded this. It meant with individual servings, I got to choose what I wanted to eat and the flavor. What’s not to love.
And let’s be honest, for kids the best part of a cake or cupcakes is the frosting. So if you know your little one isn’t going to like or appreciate the cake, then why even bother?
There were many a shopping trip where my dad, mom, and I each picked out our favorite flavor (mine was this buttercream frosting) and then had a dessert ready to go whenever we had a sweet tooth. This wasn’t a tub of frosting in one sitting kind of thing, but a couple of spoonfuls when the mood struck.
To this day, buttercream frosting is still my favorite. But as an adult, I can’t stand store bought frosting and never buy the stuff.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the convenience of being able to grab a jar of frosting and have it ready to go without the extra prep work or cleanup, but my tastebuds just don’t. My go to frosting for any cake or cupcakes is always this buttercream frosting recipe and while it’s amazing in it’s pure form, it’s so easy to transform it easily into something spectacular that will completely transform your dessert like with the cherry buttercream below, or this coconut buttercream frosting!
