It’s almost summer y’all and I love nothing more than entertaining. I soak up every minute of friends, family, fun and enjoying this Texas sunshine!
What I don’t love is spending a bunch of time indoors preparing for the summer fun. So today I wanted to give y’all two of my go-to recipes for easy peasy summer entertaining and show you how fast you can prepare to host a summer gathering or bring the best dish to your next party or tailgate!
All winter long I make creamy dips and warm comforting dishes so when summer comes around, I cannot wait for the fresh meats, cheeses and fruits.
That’s all it really takes to create the perfect summer appetizer. You can create a gorgeous, delicious and fresh trey to present to your guests or pack it all up and take it on the go!
And nothing pairs better with a summer appetizer than sweet red sangria and I have the easiest recipes ever. But don’t worry if your thinking about all the time spent cutting the fruit, I’ve got you covered. To save you time and money, you have got to know where to shop. Here in Texas, you cannot go wrong at HEB.
HEB has the fruit already cut and the cheese cubed so when I’m ready to put together one of my huge treys, I head there first. I always include fresh fruit, cheeses, crackers and meats.
On a recent trip to HEB, I found myself a new favorite lunchmeat. Aidells® meats are everything I love; super yummy combinations like Aidells® Chicken & Apple and Garlic & Basil chicken that are gluten free (yes, there are lots of lunchmeats that add gluten… gross), nitrate free, no msg, no artificial flavors and all natural. They have all the good stuff like chickens raised without hormones, minimally processed with an uncompromising taste!
Y’all seriously so, so good. Aidells® also makes meatballs that are so scrumptious, so easy to heat up and would make the perfect appetizer or main dish. My favorite are definitely the Teriyaki & Pineapple. I may have gotten a little carried away while shopping and I’ve already cooked all the meatballs!
Those meatballs got me sidetracked, back to my appetizer trey. It doesn’t get any easier, grab your favorite fruits, cheeses, lunchmeat and crackers and pile your trey high.
I like to use a cutting board because I have every size and it presents perfectly. You can make a small dish to take to a friends or a large cutting board filled up for a huge family get together!
All those gorgeous colors make this a beautiful dish for entertaining. By the way, I used Aidells® Chicken & Apple for this trey, but next time I’m using both, we ran out of meat!
If I’m eating fresh snacks outside, I want something just as refreshing to drink and nothing compares to sangria! My sangria recipe is a little bit of a cheat because it’s so simple but everyone always asks for the recipe so here it is!
Pop open your favorite sparkling red wine (my new HEB has a huge selection, holla!) and add sliced oranges and cubed watermelon. That’s it.
Do you feel guilty? Don’t! Have one sweet sip and you will wonder why you haven’t tried this before! See, entertaining is easy, you just have to know what you need and have fresh ingredients!
This red sparkling sangria is the perfect summer drink to share with friends poolside or serve up at your next BBQ. It is sweet and refreshing.
Please look at that watermelon, it was so yummy. I had to invite Kelly over when I made this batch to girl talk outside because we have been having perfect weather! And this is just too good not to share!
Shopping at HEB for fruit and cheese that is already prepared, adding in a healthy and chef-inspired lunchmeat and serving everything with a crisp sangria is the perfect summer entertaining combination. What more could you need, so simple and fun!
This summer, don’t avoid entertaining because you don’t know what to serve. Keep it simple and delicious and enjoy your family and friends all summer long!
