Best Stocking Stuffers Under $5 for Girls

I resisted filling Christmas stockings for a long time. Well, maybe not that long.

I tried to fill Brady’s stocking full of fun stuff when she was 3. This was before she had a clear idea of who Santa was and gave that guy all the credit.

But it ended up being a terrible idea and just led to her being completely overwhelmed. I knew I had stuffed her stocking with a lot, but I didn’t realize quite how much. Until it was too late.

Her birthday is 3 days before Christmas, so I thought we would just keep the celebration going from there. Birthday presents on her birthday, presents from grandparents the next day, stockings on Christmas Eve, and then everything else on Christmas Day.

It was too much. There was just so much stuff she didn’t know what to do. And you know in hindsight, I would probably have felt like that too.

I mean for my birthday one year my husband took me to buy a pair of cowboy boots and I had the same experience. An entire store almost entirely dedicated to boots and I need to pick one pair. What if I picked the wrong pair? I wouldn’t know if I didn’t look at everything. There was just so much that I wanted to shut down.

So I learned that Christmas to start scaling things back. My kids are so blessed today. They have everything they need. And more.

These days, we’ve adopted the less is more mindset. But Christmas is all about giving. And getting stockings (even if they are from Santa) is lots of fun. No matter what’s inside.

Since what Santa delivers in the girl’s stockings is decided by me, I like to keep it simple with a lot of the same basic things every year. I don’t think they’ve caught on its similar stuff every year. Or, they haven’t let on.

If you want to simplify Christmas stocking, you’ll want to check out this list with the best stocking stuffer ideas under $5 for girls. These are stocking stuffers they will love and actually use too!

Stocking Stuffers for Girls

1. Toothbrush.

There’s something about getting a new toothbrush in your stocking that makes it more special. And if your girls are little, definitely having something with their favorite princess or character adds more appeal. If you have more than one girl, just don’t buy the same one.

2. Toothpaste.

This is one of the most practical and best stocking stuffers under $5 for girls. My girls are already getting to the age where they want to use exactly what I do. While I say no on some things (hello special shampoo), some things I’m ok with. Like toothpaste.

With the holidays, they’re eating more sweets and treats than ever so I’ll do anything to keep them on their game. Crest Pro-Health Advanced Toothpaste with Whitening Power gives your kids a little extra protection during the last few weeks of the year. It’s also the only toothpaste accepted by the American Dental Association to treat all seven of these attributes: plaque, gingivitis, cavities, sensitivity, tartar, whitening, and it freshens breath.

3. Lip balm.

There’s something about mom’s lip balm that is so much more exciting. This is another area where scent and maybe even a little color matter. Get them something they’ll like and actually use.

4. Hand sanitizer.

Germs are everywhere. I’d rather buy them scented hand sanitizers they’re excited about using, than worrying about germs any day. Bonus points when they love it so much that they share!

5. Bath products.

If your girls ever struggle with taking baths, having lots of fun products definitely helps. When they’re taking baths, bath bombs are tons of fun and when they’re showering having scented shower gel makes it fun!

6. Popsocket.

My girls love their devices, A popsocket makes holding and propping it up so much easier!

7. Socks.

Don’t give the same, plain old white socks. Make things fun with crazy designs or their favorite characters! You’ll really be the hero on crazy sock day at school.

8. Art supplies.

It’s super easy to toss in a new set of crayons, markers, or pens into your child’s stocking. And it’s something they’ll likely love! Especially if you throw in mom’s favorite pens. My girls are always begging to use my pens or pencils but they destroy the tips. I’ve learned to just give them a set of my favorite pens or mechanical pencils so mine loses the allure.

9. Candy.

Honestly, you can never go wrong with candy for kids. Even more so since you’re gifting them toothpaste and toothbrushes to go with it. Just make sure they eat it in moderation and brush afterward!

10. Card games.

Playing cards and other specialty card games often come in at less than $5 each. This is a fun way to sneak a game into the mix, yet keep things affordable. It’s also something that can be taken on family trips.
