Fastest & Easiest Ways to Clean Kitchen Appliances

Like most moms, I’d way rather spend my time cooking than cleaning. And cleaning after I’ve cooked? Even worse! I fail at the art of cleaning as I go so there’s usually a sink and/or countertop full of dishes when I’m done.

So until the day I win the lottery or my kids are at least old enough to do it for me, I still have to clean. And the kitchen is one of those areas that you can clean and an hour later is already a wreck unless you stay on top of it.

I’m not extreme with my cleaning at all. But I do try to follow these tricks to always have a clean home so my house is usually presentable and I’m not embarrassed if someone pops in.

And those are just for everyday things like dishes and counters that people can see and notice right away. When you start adding in cleaning the insides of appliances, I’m lucky to do it twice a year. So when I do, want to get it done and on with my life and more fun stuff as quickly as possible. Over the years I’ve come up with some suggestions for the fastest and easiest way to clean kitchen appliances around.

Kitchen Appliance Cleaning Tips

  1. Clean as you go. I’m going to assume you’re better at this than I am and if you do this, you’ll spend a lot less time cleaning in a single session.
  2. Go from the top down. As with most cleaning you’re going to want to clean this way so that anything that falls (hello, gravity) won’t dirty up something you’ve already cleaned.
  3. Simplify cleaning materials. Don’t spend a ton of money on a bunch of different cleaners. Instead, choose a few key products that can work all over your home. Not just kitchen or bathroom specific. Vinegar and baking sodas are great, inexpensive choices that are versatile but if making your own cleaner isn’t your thing, glass cleaner and multi-purpose cleaner should get most cleaning done.
  4. Hack your way to clean. Using press n’ seal wrap to line your fridge shelves or enforcing a covered dish policy or the microwave will save you a lot of time. But never fear, you can also get things cleaned up super quick with this microwave cleaning hack.
  5. Go for matte appliances. While I love the look of stainless steel, now that LG has created these exclusive matte black appliances I’d probably choose those in the future. They’re super sleek and combine the timeless look of stainless steel with a luxe and low-gloss matte finish meaning fingerprints are kept to a minimum. Plus, these are smart appliances which mean they’re WiFi and voice-enabled allowing you to control all of your kitchen appliances remotely…no matter where you are. That means you can change settings or turn the appliances on or off from your smartphone making life easier for cleaning and cooking!
