Yo Gabba Gabba Cakes

Brady will be turning 3 next week so I’ve been busy looking at cakes all week. Last year she was deep into her Sesame Street obsession so making a Cookie Monster cake was a given.

This year her exposure to movies and TV characters has increased so selecting a theme is proving to be a little more difficult. I’m still not completely decided on a direction or theme but I’ve started seriously considering a Yo Gabba Gabba cake.

Even with a theme or a show narrowed down, there are still so many options to choose from. Do I go with a cake that represents the entire show?

Do I go with an individual character? Several Yo Gabba Gabba characters?

Should it be round or rectangular or three dimensional? Do I dare venture into fondant or stick with traditional icing?

I’m sure I’m putting way too much thought into this whole thing. I know Brady is only turning 3 and is going to love whatever I make for her but I am having such a tough time selecting “the one”.

While searching for kids birthday ideas, I came across so many cute cakes ideas that I’m using for inspiration. I pinned quite a few on Pinterest that are definitely doable and ones that far exceed my decorating abilities but regardless they’re all so cute not to share.

Oh my gosh, they are all so cute, I can't choose! Are you really going to try to make a cake that elaborate? You should definitely post about it if you do--I have always wanted to do cake decorating, but it is so intimidating!

I don't know if I'll do one quite as elaborate as these. I'm going to do a Plex cake since he's her favorite but we'll see how it turns out. I'm not the most artistic person. I can guarantee it'll taste good, it just might not look good.

That really bright pink one for someone's 2nd birthday calls out to me. I think a cake with vibrant colors and maybe use the plastic toys would be a good combo.

If you could find the Yo Gabba Gabba characters in small plastic toy figures you could make a cake with regular icing and put the characters on top. After the cake is gone she still has the little toys.

I also love that you can purchase premade colored fondant in "buckets" at Walmart now...that helps the process of making a professional looking cake.

These cakes that you found are really cool.
